While Nairobi may be the main destination for sex tourists in Kenya, it’s far from being the only spot in the country to meet girls and you’ll still be able to kick back and enjoy your stay.
I love the capital city, but I also love the coast, and all the things that come with it – which is why you should also have Mombasa on your list of potential places to visit when you’re in the country.
Located in the southeastern region of Kenya, Mombasa is the second biggest city in Kenya, and is pretty much the tourism hub of the country due to its location and proximity to everything from the nicest beaches to safari tours. This actually works in its favor, resulting in a great nightlife, lots of accommodations, and of course, lots of sexy black girls, working and non-working.
The combination of the getaway feel and the abundance of Kenyan girls and their refreshingly positive demeanor makes Mombasa yet another underrated destination for those seeking some company with hot African girls. While it’s a hidden gem to many for now (primarily Germans and Brits), I don’t anticipate it staying that way for much longer, as the city is making a full-fledged effort to further develop infrastructure, more entertainment options and all that stuff.
Anyway, all that to say, there are a ton of places to meet girls for sex here, whether you’re trying to pay for it or not.
What to Know Beforehand
Mombasa isn’t as cosmopolitan as Nairobi, and doesn’t have as large of an expat population, but it’s still right behind the capital city in both categories. It’s a little intense at times, but that’s just how things are, and the coastal vibe has that typical charm that sort of offsets all that anyway.
So yeah, expect the same laid back and friendly atmosphere as in the rest of Kenya. As with any city, there are some crime concerns, but those are mostly in areas where you wouldn’t need to be for any reason.
Things aren’t as working girl friendly as they are in other countries, but only in regards to actual establishments like brothels and such.
Bars and clubs on the other hand, get literally flooded every day by hot black freelancers, and are thus going to be your best bets for hooking up with girls in Mombasa’s nightlife. There are lots of prostitutes roaming the beaches as well, and a few conveniently-placed happy ending massage spots.
Culture
Kenya is a laid back country in general, so it’s no surprise that it’s even more true along the coast in Mombasa.
The native folks are friendly and helpful, and there are just enough tourists and expats to keep things light hearted as well. There’s a lot to do here, and things are fairly busy. Fort Jesus and Tsavo East National Park are the region’s two most famous tourist attractions.
Girls
As far as girls go, it’s not hard to meet them, whether that’s at a bar, walking along the beach, at a club, or simply on the dating site. Prepare to be approached quite a bit when you’re out, especially at night.
You’ll find Mombasa girls to be very chill and drama-free for the most part, which is a welcome change from a lot of other countries. Still, whatever you do, don’t settle for the first girl to approach you, as some ladies can be quite aggressive in their “self-marketing”. Hold out a little and see what else there is to offer.
Areas
Mombasa is kind of an odd place in the sense that all the surrounding beaches and suburbs are basically considered Mombasa, despite not technically being Mombasa. Areas like Bamburi Beach, Nyali, Shanzu, and most definitely Mtwapa are all basically Mombasa, each with some different things to offer.
In regards to the girls scene in Mombasa, Bamburi Beach is my recommended area to stay (I recently stayed at Sheratton Beach Villagio Hotel (picture above) and enjoyed it very much; it’s right next to Big Tree, which is the best freelancer bar in Mombasa – see below), along with Mtwapa further up north. These have plenty of dining and nightlife options, which means they’ll be packed with lots of girls each night looking for guys as clients (or new boyfriends).
Diani Beach in the south is getting more and more popular, too. And if you are wondering, I wouldn’t recommend to stay in Mombasa Old Town as it’s hectic, chaotic and has only one hooker bar (Casablanca) and a couple of street hooker spots.
Mombasa Girls in Bars
This is where you’ll want to be spending most of your time. Bars in Mombasa are where everyone congregates to have a good time and kick back, and consequently, that’s where most of the girls hang out looking for prospective guys to hook up with, be it pro, semi-pro, and non-pro.
Big Tree (left picture) on Bamburi Beach is by far the best bar to hook up with girls in Mombasa right now. And the setup of this beach bar couldn’t be better anyway: pool tables, big screen with live sports, two bar areas, two seating areas one in the sand and one with a wooden floor under the roof as well as a stage with live performances. Oh, make sure you don’t miss the sexy dancing show every Friday at 7pm, where more than a dozen hotties swing their sexy butts. Most girls will sit either alone or with their fellow hooker friends at the tables or at the bar, trying to make eye contact with prospective clients. Others will just come over to you and say hi. Hang out and take your time, and gauge the situation. Also, when talking transactions with Kenyan sex workers, the art of bargaining is to your advantage. The standard rates are 1,000-2,000 KSh for short time (one or two rounds of sex), and 2,000-3,000 KSh for long time (she’ll stay the night with you).
Just 400 meters or 5-10 minutes walk from Big Tree is Cheers Bar located on the main road. It used to be almost as packed with hot ladies every night, but since their owner changed it’s gotten a lot more quiet. Still, check it out when you’re here.
Eagles Nest (right picture) is the most popular bar in Mtwapa, again filled every afternoon, evening and night with both mzungus (white guys) as well as “open-minded” Mombasa girls. It’s fun to even just sit there and watch the busy street life below.
Safari Inn Bar is another location which attracts hookers on Bamburi Beach. And if you are staying down in Diani Beach, your go-to spot would be Tandoori Baharini Lounge.
Mombasa Girls in Nightclubs
The nightclubs in Mombasa work very similar to the bars in terms of meeting girls for sex – just that things tend to get busy later at night.
Casablanca Club in Old Town and Casaurina Club in Mtwapa are the best and most popular nightclubs in Mombasa, with plenty of sexy ladies every single night.
The sex prices for the freelancers are the same as in the bars (see above), as are the drink prices: about 330 KSh for a Tusker beer, 150 KSh for a water or coke, 250 KSh for a whiskey shot and 500-600 KSh for a cocktail.
Happy Ending Massages in Mombasa
Happy ending massages and erotic massages in general are somewhat difficult to spot, as none of them explicitly advertise what they do.
However, finding them on your own is not so hard. Many of the beach areas have massage spas (they’re usually a mix of barber, beauty salon & spa), and although they can be a bit primitive (and hot due to lack of air conditioning), they are still fairly private, and you can almost always get more than just a massage.
Mayas Salon in Nyali Centre (left picture) and Olita Beauty Salon in Mtwapa (right picture) are two locations that offer special massages.
It’s usually 3,000-4,000 KSh for a 1 hour full body massage, plus 1,000 KSh tip for a hand job.
Beach Girls in Mombasa
No matter whether you stay on Bamburi Beach or Diani Beach – just by randomly strolling along the beach (especially from 4pm onwards when it’s not so hot anymore) you will find lots of lightly dressed girls who will do exactly the same as you, either alone or with one or two lady friends, looking to hook up with some white guy.
While most of these girls work as prostitutes, you can also find plenty of girls who are here on a holiday and very open to small talk and potentially more.
In case you are dealing with sex workers, you may have somewhat more bargaining power here than in the bars, though the standard price range of 1-2k for short time and 2-3k for long time still applies here.
Mombasa Girls on the Dating Site
If you want to meet girls in Mombasa that are both super attractive and fun to hang out with, using a dating site is probably your best option. Seeking Arrangement is a hugely popular dating site both among expats in the country as well as tourists who want to meet up with nice local ladies.
And what’s great about this site (apart from the thousands of sexy women online at any daytime) is that you can arrange your dates conveniently from at home, even before starting your trip, means you don’t waste any time.
In Closing
Mombasa has it all. You’ve got the beaches, not a lot of tourists, a laid back vibe, and a wide array of hot African girls from Kenya and the neighboring countries like Tanzania and Uganda. It’s very easy to have a great time here on all levels, and not spend a lot of money in the process.
If you’re looking for something different from Nairobi, or just want an awesome vacation in a less-traveled beach area with an ample supply of girls, Mombasa is where it’s at.
